We Mormons can never be sure
quite of people.
Who is OK? Who is not?
Or worse!
That's why Joseph Smith, our Seer and
Revelator, has revealed us of the Secret Handshakes.
This secret
(formerly sacred)
way of clasping another's hands so we can surely know who the other person
is... friend or foe? Good or evil?

If you meet someone who you can't be sure of
who he/she is -- are they the devil in disguise or are they OK? Are
they a real person or are they an angel? |

the secret handshakes.

...Here
is where our handshake comes in handily.
It's called "The Sure Sign Of The
Nail".
(Not to be confused with "The Sign Of The Nail" handshake,
that's something else.)
It's
used like this:
HERE is The logic:
1
Suppose you meet someone and you think he
may be the devil.
2
Shake their hand (The normal way).
If they feel solid, like you or I, they are probably OK. If they
feel like noting -- like air, you know immediately that this person is the
devil or a spiritual being!. Act accordingly!!
3
If
they feel solid, like you or I, they are probably OK, but we don't
know for sure. Try the secret handshake with this person If
they reciprocate -- if they know the secret handshake, they are an angel!
If they don't know the secret handshake, they are surely a real person.
4 If
they refuse to shake, you can be certain you are dealing with a "Just man made
perfect", who knows the secret handshake, but he/she is not solid, and
thus can't shake your hand.
Instructions given by Joseph Smith, Nauvoo, Illinois,
February 9, 1843.

If they don't know
the secret handshake,
they are definitely the devil
-- Beelzebub.
Of that you can be sure!
|
That's
all there
is to this particular secret handshake.
It's not very complex, really.
Angels know the secret handshake, real persons know it, and spirits don't know
it but won't shake.
The Devil feels transparent.
By this everyone can be distinguished from one another -- this is how you can
tell for sure who someone is.

"The Second Token of the Melchizedek
Priesthood, the
Patriarchal Grip,
The Sure Sign of the Nail is given
by clasping
right hands and interlocking
little fingers, and placing the
index
finger of the right hand on the center of
the wrist.
The
name is "Health in the navel,
marrow in the bone, strength in the
loins and in the sinews, power in the
priesthood be upon me and
upon
my posterity through all generation
of time and throughout
all eternity".

This handshake is also used to get you into heaven (celestial kingdom). Mormons as
well as non-mormons must know this to gain eternal glory. If you forget, don't worry, an angel will be at the gate to prompt you thru the handshaking
ceremony. We know this is true, because the scripture tell us so.
Is it secret or sacred?

Instructions given by Joseph Smith:
"Doctrine & Covenants" Section 129:
1 There are two kinds of beings in heaven, namely: Angels, who are resurrected personages, having
bodies of flesh and bones;
2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
3 Secondly: the spirits of just men made perfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory.
4 When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you.
5 If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand.
6 If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear;
7 Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the order of heaven for a just man to deceive;
but he will still deliver his message.
8 If it be the devil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not feel
anything; you may therefore detect him.
9 These are three grand keys whereby you may know whether any administration is from God.
Joseph Smith, Nauvoo, Illinois, February 9, 1843. History of the Church 5:267.
