General Benefits of Massage
Massage has been used for centuries -- for reduction of muscle soreness and for relaxation. It really works! It has been with us since the ancients. It was already old when Hippocrates (460-380 B.C.), the Father of medicine, used massage on his patients, and encouraged doctors to use massage as a healing remedy. Oriental cultures developed techniques -- amma and shiatsu; India, Greece, and Rome devised their own styles, and the Swedes combined the best methods from several sources. Massage is especially valid today, in our complex, hectic modern world!

Stress can contribute to illness; reduction of stress should be a personal priority. Stress reduction is one of the major benefits of massage.

Regular massage, regular physical workouts, stretching and good nutrition are the best natural medicine.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A variety of workers in professions are plagued by this serious epidemic, from the electrician who is constantly looking upwards to the concert pianist whose fingers are always in motion. People who use computers need to be aware of the hazard of repetitive strain injury resulting from the use of keyboards and mice. This can be a serious and very painful condition that is far easier to prevent than to cure. It occurs even in young, physically fit individuals. You can help prevent his by proper posture and by using a wrist support at the keyboard.

In these cumulative trauma disorders, the end result is pain. If it goes untreated, it can lead to disability. I use an effective massage program for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and for similar soft tissue conditions -- I may be able to help you.

How often should I get a massage?
Regular massage is an investment in your health. A weekly massage is best for top health, but every other week, or even only once a month will help you achieve a good level of health.

Do I have to get naked?
No -- not if you don’t want to! It’s your massage, just be comfortable and enjoy it! In my practice, clients' modesty plays a big part. A lot of people are really self-conscious about their bodies, so I make sure they feel secure, always under a sheet or towel, with only the part I’m working on uncovered.

I believe...
Treating the WHOLE PERSON is necessary; the body is an integrated system-- BODY and MIND.

... that
How you treat your physical body will influence how you feel. -- because your body, bones, muscles, connective tissue, organs, nerves and fluids give you the ability to move about in the external world.

... and that
The mind, attitudes, beliefs, emotions, feelings and fears mold your perceptions of yourself, your world, your reality. How you hold your emotions will effect your physical structure and function.

... and
Your core being gives you life. How you nourish your body, cleanse your mind, and replenish your mind will allow you to feel the joy and fullness life offers.
